As part of a £380 million investment in facilities, University of Exeter were looking to upgrade their EPOS software to offer a top quality experience to staff and students.
Thanks to MCR Systems Symphony Enterprise package, The Sunday Times University of the Year 2012-13 is now leading the way in terms of the reporting capabilities at 12 of its bars, food outlets and shops at its Exeter campuses. The new system means the university can see real-time sales figures and better monitor stock, factors which have contributed to becoming increasingly efficient.
Robert O’Connell, EPOS Administrator at the University of Exeter said, “With a wider plan of upgrades to a number of facilities within the university underway and with our previous system needing to be updated, we wanted to make an effective improvement.
“As members of The University Caterers Organisation (TUCO), MCR was an obvious choice to help bring us right up to date with the latest technology. The new system has enabled us to track sales and wastage at all of our outlets – from one office we can see which sites are busy and which are performing well.”
The three month roll out included the installation of 35 SymPOS terminals with chip and pin devices as well as hand held mobile ordering and stock taking devices. The university also took advantage of shelf edge labelling software and integrated weighing scales. MCR also provided training to the university’s 80 users as well as ongoing support after installation.
