The government has announced that restaurants and pubs in England will be granted automatic permission to provide takeaway services until March 2022.
Prior to the pandemic, businesses had to formally apply for a change of use before offering the new service to customers. However, due to lockdown restrictions, the government relaxed the rules for 12 months, which meant that businesses just had to inform their local authority of the new service. This has now been extended further and could be made permanent.
